Cargo Bridge

I tried out X Construction on a friend's Android-based phone and was hooked. So now, I tried looking for a browser based game where the goal was to construct a bridge that would allow people to walk across it safely. I then found Cargo Bridge. Below is a screenshot of what the game looks like.

You have two types of building material to work with, namely walks and connectors. And instead of limiting the number of pieces you can use for these materials, you are given a financial budget which you can maximize / minimize for the project.

The objective is for the workers to get to the boxes or other types of objects, and bring those objects back to their original starting point.

It's simplistic, but pretty fun. Try it out.

Tiberium Alliance Greasemonkey Scripts No Longer Work

I logged in yesterday to do my usual rounds of killing Forgotten bases when I noticed that the TACS simulator button was gone. I checked Greasemonkey and none of the installed scripts were showing up.

So I tried reinstalling the scripts for Tiberium Alliances. But whenever I pressed the INSTALL button, all that appears is a new webpage with the .js (Javascript) file. (The reason for this is that the scripts are actually still installed. You just can't see them at this point.)

I tried reinstalling Greasemonkey instead. I removed Greasemonkey and then reinstalled from the Firefox add-ons page. That remedied the problem for one day. The next morning, the same problem was back. All Greasemonkey scripts for Tiberium Alliances were no longer working. And when I tried to uninstall Greasemonkey, there no longer was an option to remove the add-on. All installed add-ons were no longer visible.

So as a last resort, I decided to reinstall Firefox. There has been pop-ups the last couple of days about upgrading to version 20.0.1. And after much hassle about the need to be an administrator to install it, I finally finished. Lo, and behold, the scripts were working again. REALLY UNCOOL FIREFOX! All that trouble - forcing your users to a mandatory update.

I know, I know... it's like your mom making you eat vegetables because its good for you. Well I hope all the update does is protect us from vulnerabilities and not put more garbage on our drives.

Ikariam v 0.5.4 : Tower Ruin - Helios Tower

I only noticed the recent Ikariam update when I clicked on the island view. Below are the features and the changes made in the update.

• Feature - As of now, on every island there is a special building slot for a Helios Tower. All players can purchase this building for Ambrosia. The buyer can select from multiple options to determine the appearance of the tower. The building is persistent in the world and contains the name of the player (even after deletion). The building includes a set three-week bonus which increases the production of both resources on the island by 10% for all players that are on said island. Each player can extend the bonus by seven days using an Ambrosia payment. It can also be reactivated for this time frame, if it has already expired.
• Change - The storage capacity of the town hall has been increased to 2,500 per resource. Additionally, the amount of resources that can be transported when colonizing has also been increased to 2,500.

So, in exchange for ambrosia, the advantage would be resource bonus production - but this is shared by all players on the island - and an Ikariam imprint (which will exist even after the player's account has been deleted).

G. I. Joe Retaliation 2013

Spoiler Alert: Read at your own risk if you haven't seen the movie yet!

This movie is probably better than the first. It is the best action movie of 2013 so far.

Some of the things that I liked about the movie are

• Death of Duke
• Ninja fight scene ala Sky Commanders
• The way the G.I. Joe and Cobra toys were portrayed in the movie
• Firefly's portrayal
• Storm Shadow's redemption

One disappointing thing for me in the movie was the lack of a babe like Sienna Miller. The actresses they hired to play Lady Jane and Jinx were "too manly". Granted, these are hardened soldiers, and they have to be tough.

Another thing I hated was the portrayal of Flint. They made the guy a parkour specialist. But Flint was a leader just like Duke, General Hawk, etc., but instead they make Roadblock the leader in this movie. The Rock plays a better Roadblock than they guy in the first movie though. But back to Flint, they should have used a different G. I. Joe character to play wing man. (Could have used Shipwreck, Lifeline, etc.) They probably wanted to play the love angle with Lady Jane, but like I said previously, no romantic relationship will blossom with that "man".

And as for Bruce Willis, you're either a fan or your not. And for someone retired and extremely dangerous, (RED), I thought he was an o.k. addition to the franchise. They can probably kill him if ever there was a third installment.
