Caleb Johnson - As Long As You Love Me Lyrics

Here's what I could get from Caleb Johnson's performance from American Idol. Hope it's accurate enough, but corrections are welcome. Just post them in the comments section below if you have any. Enjoy!

And before I forget, congrats to the winner of American Idol Season 13 - Caleb Johnson. You rock man! Wish you and Jack Black would duet in the future!

Stanza:
We were looking for love in all the same places
Infected with the same disease
In a room full of guys with handsome faces
(Well) We couldn't find a moment to seize

(backup vocals) Always wanted to be closer
I guess that's just the way it goes
(backup vocals) Always / (You were) looking for an answer
When all the time
It was right here under your nose

Chorus:
(But) As long as you love me
You don't always have to say I'm cool.
Yeah
As long as you love me,
We don't have to be together 24/7.
As long as you love me,
I'm in heaven
Whoa / Yeah yeah

Bridge:
You will never have a reason
To tell me that we're through
I will ever ask you not to do what you wanna do
Even if you never show me what I mean to you

American Idol: Amber Holcomb is Eliminated

Amber Holcomb ended up with the lowest votes from this week and last week's combined votes. This means that the top three contestants remaining that will be fighting for the top spot are Angie Miller, Candice Glover, and Kree Harrison.

Despite getting standing ovations from the judges for the past two weeks, Amber still ended up getting the lowest voter turn out. American Idol has proven time and time again that you may be the best sounding singer, but the likability factor is important as well. If people don't like you, no matter how good you are, you won't receive their vote.

Its a shame that this happens in a singing competition. Amber Holcomb should have ended in 2nd Place if not as the season winner. Only Candice Glover can match her in terms of vocal talent among the top four. And if marketing is important in a career later on, Amber Holcomb would be the threat since she also looks good, and has a potential for advertisements, and perhaps TV shows or movies. The beautiful are usually blessed.

But haters are gonna hate. I'm not sure if Amber's fashion sense during the early part of the season was the reason for the low number of votes that she received. Some of the audiences might have seen, as Nikki Minaj would put it, those long stallion legs, as offensive or a ploy to attract a greater part of the male audience. The males in the audience probably appreciated it but their girlfriends or wives wouldn't have. And most voters on American Idol are probably conservative old grandmas  or young girls. In the latter episodes of American Idol, you'll see that they lessen Amber's exposure and try to dress her up conservatively, but the initial impressions probably were already embedded in people's minds.

Still, Beyonce, Rihanna, and even the great Mariah Carey, at some point in their careers, had some questionable exposures in their videos perhaps to sell some records.

Amber Holcomb has a bright future ahead of her. She just needs to move on from this temporary failure and prove the doubters wrong when she makes it big. A lot of American Idol contestants had bigger careers than past AI winners. Chris Daughtry, Jennifer Hudson, and Katherine McPhee never won but still had music hits or awards later on.

Amber, thank you for the unforgettable performances you did on American Idol this season. Never give up. Show them that you're better and you really deserve to be a star. And as a personal request, stick with classics or ballads - which you are extremely good at. You are amazing!!!

American Idol 11: Hollie Cavanagh, Grace & Power

America says good bye to perhaps the prettiest member of their top 10 this eleventh season, Hollie Cavanagh. And not just a pretty face, Miss Cavanagh has the makings of a great power singer which she has demonstrated in past performances such as Rolling in the Deep, Son of a Preacher Man, Faithfully, and The Climb. She finished 4th over all and her performances will be missed.

Image wise, out of all the female contestants, Hollie is very marketable. Her smile will easily brighten anyone's day. People born with good looks and singing skills are few and far between. And she even has the humility and showings of a classy young lady that will always be an advantage to any aspiring entertainer and I hope that she never losses that even if she becomes very famous. This was even evident in the way she accepted defeat, and gracefully sang The Climb while saying good bye to her fellow contestants and the judges. Some contestants might fight against judges opinions, but Miss Cavanagh simply accepted it. Other contestants would probably have done differently but Hollie has shown great professionalism at a young age.

Personally, I would have wanted her "dark horse" streak to have extended until the final two. But in the end, America has decided, and I am at least happy she has reached this stage when she would have been eliminated 3 or 4 shows ago if not for her brilliant come back performances. She can be an inspiration to many young girls aspiring to be a professional singer.

Jessica Sanchez: Is America Ready for an Asian Idol Winner?

America showed that it was ready to elect an African American President in 2008. Is America ready to vote for an Asian American Idol?

Apparently, not yet. Despite being one of the best singers in American Idol Season 11, Jessica Sanchez received the lowest voting turn out this week. She was in the middle of "singing for her life" when all the judges stood from their seats and went on stage to use their only save of the season. Randy Jackson mentioned that America got it wrong and that voters should choose the best singer in America. That is what the competition is all about. To quote Wikipedia:

Sanchez has received five unanimous standing ovations for her competitive performances from the judges, three from solo performances, one for group performance, and one for a duet.

Sanchez singing talent is a cross between Beyoncé Knowles and Whitney Houston. Admittedly, she doesn't have the looks, at least not yet. But image is something that can be worked on. Extraordinary talent is something someone is born with. If she is "crazy-good", why is she being ousted this early in the competition. Are the other contestants way better than her?

Perhaps we are over-reacting. Perhaps voters thought that Jessica Sanchez would get most of the votes and they would cast their vote for someone else this week. This is one way of rationalizing what happened.

But another reason could be the "like-ability" of the contestant. Fans of the show have proven in the past that the contestant ending up as the winner isn't always the one with the best talent, but one with the best fan-base.

There have been a lot of "best singers" being ousted in past AI seasons. But this usually happens near the finale, usually when contestants are vying for the top 4 or top 3 spots. But Jessica Sanchez' case is different. AI still has 7 people vying for the top spot, and she now gets the lowest vote.

Was this week a fluke? Or is America telling the judges what they really want. Perhaps the audience is still not ready for an Asian Idol. The competition is named American Idol after all. Let's see what happens in the coming weeks.

American Idol 11: DeAndre Brackensick

There is always that one defining moment when people watching American Idol realize that the contestant really has star potential and has a chance of becoming a successful artist. I think I saw these moments in Carrie Underwood's How Do I Get You Alone, Elliot Yamin's Song For You, and Carly Smithson's Here You Come Again performances. And the other night, I believe I saw DeAndre Brackensick's defining moment when he sang Eric Benet's Sometimes I Cry. This guy is sick, Brackensick, especially when he reaches the last parts of the song.

Here's a link to DeAndre's version just in case the video isn't showing up. Below is Eric Benet's official music video.

Here's a link to Eric's version just in case the video isn't showing up.

Comparing the two isn't really fair, and you have to give it to DeAndre since he was killing in a live performance while Eric Benet's video has already been cleaned up. I would buy the DeAndre version in a heartbeat. Not many guys can sing that high. And even if DeAndre doesn't win since these types of songs do not appeal to everyone's tastes, to me, he is already a star. Great job, and good luck with the competition. Hope you make it to the finale.

What about you readers? Which contestant are you rooting for?

Carly Smithson Here You Come Again Chords

It pains me to see that after 4 years, there is still no decent guitar chord arrangement available online for Carly Smithson's rendition of "Here You Come Again" during American Idol Season 7. I believe that her performance is one of the best acoustic performances you will ever see on the AI stage. Check it out. And neglect Simon's comments about her wardrobe and just listen to the song.

I am no expert, but here is an attempt at creating the guitar chords for this performance. I hope you enjoy it and if you can come up or find the actual guitar tabs, please place a link on the comments.

Here You Come Again performed by Carly Smithson

G        Bm7       C - CM7
Here you come again
G              Bm7             C  -  CM7
Just when I'm about to make it work without you
    Em                 Am         Em              Am
You look into my eyes, and lie those pretty lies
    D                   D              D7
And pretty soon I’m wondering how I came to doubt you

Chorus:
EbM7             Dm7
All you gotta do is smile that smile
    C#M7         Cm7
And there go all my defenses
Cm7 – Dm7 – EbM7                 Dm7
Just leave it up to you and in a little while
       G                      C                   D
You're messin' up my mind and fillin' up my senses

(Key change one half-step up)

G#      Cm7    C#M7
Here you come again
G#                  Cm7          C#M7
Lookin' better than a body has a right to
    Fm            Bbm      Fm          Bbm
And shakin' up my soul that all I really know
Eb            Eb – Ebsus - Eb
Is here you come again
         G# - Cm7 - C#M7 – Eb – Ebsus - Eb
And here I ---------------- go
          G# (or F)
Oh Here I go
